So, you’re new to the University and you want to know how to make the most of it? Let me give you some simple steps to making a home for yourself at WSU.
Step 1: Step out of your comfort zone and meet new people!
First weekend is the time to meet people! The people you meet and surround yourself with in college are people that you will keep in touch with the rest of your lives! However, watch the people you decide to call your friends, are they the type of person you would like to be? Remember, you are the people you surround yourself with. To be successful, it helps to surround yourself with goal driven people!
Step 2: Shop around, see what WSU has to offer!
Go to Do the U. I cannot stress this enough.. GO to Do the U!! This will give you a chance to see what is going on at WSU and to find something that you are interested in. We have a little bit of everything at WSU, you are bound to find something that sparks your interest. While out searching for organizations to become a part of, don’t forget about your community councils. Being a part of your community councils is a great way to make your own community better.
Step 3: Step up and join something!
Once you have found a club or organization that interests you, join it! No, I am serious, get involved! You won’t regret it. Being involved in an organization or club can you set you up for the rest of your college career and even carry past that. You will gain some awesome friends that could lead to potential roommates or future job opportunities.
Step 4: Give it your all!
You only get out of an organization, club, or friendship what you give in. The more you give, the greater the return will be. Some organizations pay their executive board. These people are getting paid for doing things that they are interested in, while getting awesome job experience, and helping out the Wright State Community. If none of that interests you, organization experience looks great on a resume. This experience is something you don’t want to miss out on.
Getting involved and getting to know many people in the WSU community, helps to make this University your home. You only have four(or maybe five) years of undergrad, make the best of it! Get Involved!
