Wednesday, September 25, 9:00 am to 11:00 am, in 301 Millett.
Led by Paul Rogat Loeb, Affiliate Scholar at Seattle's Center for Ethical Leadership.
Paul Rogat Loeb, an Affiliate Scholar at Seattle's Center for Ethical Leadership and author of Soul of a Citizen, will explore how to teach social commitment to America's student citizens. Loeb has spent thirty-five years researching and writing about citizen responsibility and empowerment, asking what makes some people choose lives of social commitment while others abstain, and exploring how to find the hope to stay engaged despite all the frustrations and barriers. Paul draws on his work founding and leading the Campus Election and Engagement Project, which worked with 750 schools in 2012 to help them engage students in elections. This session will provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on their mission as educators.
