One Bright Idea: Students Building Professional Business Skills While Serving Community Businesses and Non-Profit Organizations

Wednesday, April 10, 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, in 023 Dunbar Library.

Led by Melissa Gruys, Professor in the Department of Management and International Business.

In this session, Melissa Gruys will discuss the Human Resources Senior Seminar course. In the HR Senior Seminar course, student consulting teams provide recommendations to community businesses and non-profit organizations on many areas of their Human Resource Management policies and practices. Melissa will discuss designing a service-learning project that fits a particular discipline or course, as well as strategies for identifying community partner organizations and managing relationships with those partner organizations.

Examples of past student projects will also be available for review. See: Past HR Seminar projects and thoughts on the experience from organizations and students.
